Junichi Shimada’s role includes global Cloud computing business from marketing perspectives. He majored in mechanical engineering at university, while involved in the development of robots. After joined Fujitsu in 1984, his first mission was the development of software for network transmission equipment. Then as a software engineer, he worked with many customers and overseas companies in the co-development of software. His next move was into the Optical network division. There he had responsibility for optical network equipment firmware. After joining the Network engineering group he acted as both a network engineer and salesman across Japan creating many pipelines with the major telecom carriers. His biggest project during this period was the building of a Japan-wide 10G optical network for one of those carriers. Currently he has some roles on global basis, such cloud based solution development & marketing, New business development, Analyst Relations, Marketing Intelligence, Customer communications and he also manages Contact Center for customers. These activities are tightly related for Fujitsu business. In private life, his many hobbies and activities include playing golf, baseball in every position except catcher. Although never a member of an official baseball team at school he enjoys the game still. He has even pitched at the Tokyo-dome as part of a YOMIURI GIANTS game attraction. A showman to the end he also likes to blow his own trumpet & cornet and enjoys playing in various concerts.
